Community Supported Bakery Shares available now

Boomerang Bakery here in Monroe is offering a new option for bakery goods lovers this year.  Modeled on the CSA option for produce and meats, their new Bakery Shares program gives baked goods lovers 20 weeks of fresh bakery goods for one set price.  Pay in advance or on a payment plan, and receive weekly deliveries of fresh baked bread, cookies, desserts and/or granola.  The community supported model is a win-win for both producer and consumer.  Consumers can easily line up their local foods purchases for weeks in advance and insure a supply of fresh, delicious food with a minimum of effort.  Producers receive capital up front and know they have consistent order quantities every week, making bulk purchases and planning easier.

Boomerang Bakery is offering four share options, each with a 20 week delivery schedule:

• Full Share $400
• 1 Loaf Slicing Bread
• 1 Loaf Specialty Bread
• 1 Dozen Cookies
• Large Portion of Dessert

• Half Share $200
• 1/2 Loaf Slicing Bread
• 1/2 Loaf Specialty Bread
• 1/2 Dozen Cookies
• Small Portion of Dessert

• Bread Only Share $200
• 1 Specialty Loaf
• 1 Sandwich Loaf

• Mini Share $100
• 1/2 Loaf Slicing Bread
• 1/2 Dozen Cookies or Small Dessert (baker’s choice)

• Granola Option $50
• 1 Bag of Granola every other week (total of 10)
• Purchase this individually or add it on to your other share

Share sessions will run as follows:

• Winter/Spring 2012 Share Session: January 9th-May 21st, 2012

• Summer/Fall 2012 Share Session: June 4th-October 15th, 2012

• Fall Shares dates are still to be determined.  It will likely be a share lasting 8 weeks in November and December.

This is a great options for those of you who don’t get to Monroe every week as Boomerang will delivery to pick-up points in surrounding communities.  If there are at least 5 people in the community who order shares, Boomerang will set up a delivery location.  Get your neighbors to order shares, and Boomerang can deliver right to your block!  Delivery locations should be established in Albany/Brodhead, Monticello, Browntown, Orangeville/Freeport, and Orfordville/Footville.  People in Monroe can pick up their share at the bakery between 4 and 6 pm on Mondays.
